John Schmitt was raised in the Bay Area, became a Blackhawk Helicopter Pilot in the US Army, received a Master’s Degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Vanderbilt, taught at West Point, and now resides in Our Town and is the Executive Director for AMIIC (Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Integration Center). Smart dude. Fun to talk to. Drove up in his Tesla, which we spoke about for the first few minutes of the episode. John also shared some moments from his deployments, which exposed his mind to human struggle in the absence of basic needs. I learned a lot listening to John as he spoke through so many of his life’s experiences.
